Charities

Curves has established an enviable reputation for supporting charities. During the past year, the club and all its members have worked tirelessly for charities, locally and nationally, raising phenomenal amounts of cash.

breastcancercarelogoOctober - Breat Cancer Awareness month

Well, what a fantastic month we had, turning the studio pink each Friday culminating in our Sweat with your Pink Sweetie. The week earlier at our Girl's Night In we announced the winner of the Curves Reading West Pink Lady, and made our Super pink Raffle draw. Together with our Guess the Pink Balls competition, the Pink Picture Board and sales of our LivAid product and of course with our member's wonderful generosity we managed to raise almost £900 and we are so proud of our achievements.

Pam Downing won our Curves Reading West Pink Lady award. Pam won a Curves Goody bag plus a free month's membership.  Altogether the whole month was just great and the results demonstrated our fantastic "Curves family". See the pictures below.

logoCurves goes “hooping mad” for Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day 2011 was just brilliant and we raised £326 by holding some fund raising activities in the Club, including a hula hoop competition where members could donate £1 for guessing which member of staff would “hoop” the longest amount of time. We also held our special celebrity red nose picture board which proved so popular, guess the heart rate and as a treat, special Red Nose Day cakes were also on sale.

The hooping competition was held twice during the day with the overall winner being won by Sam who “hooped” for 46 minutes wiping the floor with the opposition.

Owner Sandy Thompson was delighted with the funds raised, saying “it was another great fun red day and thanks to everyone who made it special. It always amazes me that our members respond in such a positive way at these events and I thank them for their wonderful donations”.
